Hyderabad: Overflowing drainage on a newly laid CC road beside the 7 Heaven Restaurant in the Fish Market area of Begum Bazaar has become a major concern for local residents and commuters. The issue has led to serious health hazards, with stagnant water becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies, further exacerbating the inconvenience for people in the area.

The problem was highlighted by the social activist and resident, Shaandaar Hyderabad, on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), urging the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to address the issue. In his post, he said, "Drainage overflowing on newly laid CC road beside 7 Heaven Restaurant #FishMarket #BegumBazar. Need your attention @HMWSSBOnline."

Responding to the concern, the official HMWSSB Twitter handle acknowledged the issue and assured action. "Good Morning sir. Complaint with token number 7166 is registered and intimated to the concerned @hmwssbgmom4 @Hmwssbdgmboglkt @hmwssbmgrgg Gowliguda Section Manager. Will be rectifying it ASAP. Thank you," the reply stated.

However, Shaandaar expressed disappointment while speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, raising concerns about the lack of coordination between the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) department.

He questioned the decision to lay the CC road without first addressing the drainage problems, describing it as an "irresponsible job." He further added that local residents had raised their concerns with the authorities but had not received a response.

The residents are urging the HMWSSB to take immediate action to resolve the overflowing drainage issue and prevent further health hazards and inconvenience.

For water and sewerage-related concerns, residents can contact HMWSSB customer care at 155313 or 040-23300114. Alternatively, issues can be raised via social media on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) @HMWSSBOnline.
