Five injured after multi‑car collision on Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road
Hyderabad: At least five people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision involving nine cars on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Rajendranagar on Monday morning.
According to initial reports, the crash occurred when the driver of a speeding car applied sudden brakes, causing a chain-reaction collision with vehicles following closely behind. The pile-up led to a traffic jam stretching nearly two kilometres.
Rajendranagar police and ORR maintenance personnel responded to the scene, clearing the damaged vehicles and restoring traffic flow. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway.
This incident follows a fatal crash earlier this month near Adibatla on the ORR. On May 2, D. Thirumalesh, 30, died after losing control of his car while returning to Hyderabad from Shamshabad. His vehicle struck a median and flipped several times. Police suspect he may have fallen asleep at the wheel. He died on the spot due to severe injuries. The car was extensively damaged.
In another accident, a traffic home guard was killed and two constables injured when a speeding lorry crashed into a traffic booth near Miyapur Metro Station on April 7. The crash occurred around 11:00 p.m. near pillar number 600. The officers were managing a no-entry zone when the lorry, coming from Kukatpally after unloading rice bags in Bharat Nagar, rammed into the booth.
Home Guard Simhachalam, from Aamdalavalasa in Srikakulam district, sustained a fatal head injury and died at a private hospital in Madinaguda. Constables Rajavardhan and Vijender were also injured, Rajavardhan suffered fractures to his arm and shoulder, while Vijender sustained minor injuries. The lorry driver, identified as Srinivas from Sadashivapet, is under investigation.
