Odisha's ganja trafficker Sangita Sahu arrested by Telangana STF
Hyderabad: The Telangana Special Task Force (STF) has arrested Sangita Sahu, also known as Geetha Sahu, a prominent figure in the ganja trade, from Odisha. Sangita Sahu, hailing from Kalikot village in Odisha's Kurtha district, has been involved in the wholesale distribution of ganja for the past four years.
Sangita Sahu gained notoriety for her role in trafficking large quantities of ganja across multiple states, particularly in Dhoolpet, Hyderabad. She made deals with various ganja traders and was known for posting Instagram reels, which garnered significant attention.
The STF's operation to apprehend Sangita Sahu was launched after investigations revealed her involvement in five criminal cases in Telangana, including two significant ganja supply cases in Dhoolpet. In these cases, Sangita Sahu supplied 29 kg and 11.3 kg of ganja, respectively. Her name surfaced during the interrogation of arrested ganja traders in Dhoolpet, identifying her as a key player in the trafficking network.
Sangita Sahu had previously been arrested by the Secunderabad Railway Police in 2022 for attempting to smuggle ganja into Hyderabad. Although she was imprisoned, she resumed her illegal activities upon release.
A special STF team, led by Team Leader Nandyala Anji Reddy, traveled more than 1,000 kilometers to Kalikot, Odisha, with assistance from local police. The team successfully arrested Sangita and brought her back to Telangana.
Enforcement Director V.B. Kamal Hassan Reddy commended the team for their efforts in successfully capturing the accused and carrying out the operation.
