North Hyderabad residents request CM Revanth Reddy to consider Medchal for IT park development
Hyderabad: Residents of North Hyderabad have appealed to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu to consider Medchal as a potential site for one of the two new IT parks announced for the city.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the North Hyderabad Development Forum and Medchal Metro Sadhana Samithi expressed their support for the government's ongoing efforts to position Hyderabad as a global IT hub. They also reminded the government of its earlier commitment to bring IT parks and infrastructure development to the Medchal region.
“We were pleased to see the recent announcement by IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu about the development of two new IT parks. However, we would like to reiterate the need for North Hyderabad, particularly Medchal, to be considered for one of these parks,” the letter stated.
The forum highlighted Medchal’s suitability for the new IT parks, citing factors such as ample land availability, excellent connectivity via the Outer Ring Road (ORR), MMTS, and the upcoming Medchal Metro. They also highlighted the growing talent pool in the region, which could support a thriving IT ecosystem.
“While areas like Kokapet and Gachibowli have already emerged as IT hubs, it is time to expand Hyderabad’s IT footprint and unlock the potential of North Hyderabad,” the letter continued. “We request that Medchal be given priority as a location for one of these IT parks.”
The letter also requested a meeting with the Chief Minister to discuss Medchal's future development as an IT and industrial hub.
IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu recently announced that detailed studies are underway to identify the best locations for the new IT parks. He said that the parks would feature world-class infrastructure and robust transport systems, further enhancing Hyderabad’s position as a fast-growing IT destination.
