Hyderabad: Residents of Nizampet have raised serious concerns over the deteriorating sanitation conditions in the area. Garbage is reportedly being dumped directly onto the streets, leaving locals to walk through piles of waste and foul smells on a daily basis.

Frustrated by the lack of basic civic maintenance, residents have appealed to the Nizampet Municipality to address the issue urgently. They are demanding that dustbins be installed to prevent the public from discarding waste on the roads and are calling on both authorities and fellow citizens to maintain basic cleanliness in their surroundings.

The issue was brought to wider attention by a citizen Akula Satish, who posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Sanitation has completely collapsed within the Nizampet Municipal Corporation limits. Is this what you call good governance, Corporation? You can’t stop corruption or illegal constructions, and now you can’t even maintain basic sanitation. At the very least, fulfill your basic responsibility of keeping the area clean.”

Residents echoed the sentiment, urging the municipality to take immediate action and ensure proper waste management. They also called on the community to act responsibly and follow basic civic norms.

Residents facing issues with water and sewerage problems in Hyderabad can contact HMWSSB through its customer service numbers at 155313 or 040-23300114 or via its social media platforms on X (formerly Twitter).

Additionally, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) can be contacted for related concerns through their official handle on X (@GHMCOnline).

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) was established on November 1, 1989, and is responsible for managing the city's water supply and sewerage services. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) oversees Hyderabad, the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Telangana. It is one of the largest municipal corporations in India, serving a population of 7.9 million people across an area of 650 square kilometers.
