Nizampet Govt park visitors forced to pay unauthorised entry fee
HYDERABAD: A government park in Kolanu Narayana Reddy Colony, Nizampet, has come under illegal control of local leaders, who are collecting money from visitors by issuing tickets and passes.
Illegal collections resume after brief halt
Residents said the leaders, projecting themselves as colony elders, are charging ₹10 per entry ticket and ₹100 for a monthly pass. They set up a ticket counter at the entrance and allow visitors inside only after collecting money.
This practice had stopped after a report in Eenadu on June 4 highlighted the issue. However, locals said the collections resumed recently.
Park developed with public funds
Spread over one acre, the park was established two decades ago and has been continuously developed under the government and the Nizampet municipal corporation. It now has walking tracks, children’s play equipment, sports facilities for badminton and volleyball, and an open gym added last year. Hundreds of visitors come every morning and evening.
Civic chief assures action
Nizampet municipal commissioner Saber Ali said: “We will take action against those collecting money from visitors. The park is entirely government property and no one has been authorised to manage it. Visitors do not have to pay anyone.”
