Hyderabad: Residents of Red Hills in Hyderabad have raised serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of the road near the popular Niloufer Café & Bakery and Niloufer Hospital in the Lakdikapul-Nampally area. The stretch, approximately one kilometre long, has reportedly been in a poor state for over 18 months, causing difficulties for daily commuters, patients, and emergency vehicles.

Rusty Ahmed, a local resident, spoke to Hyderabad Mail and said, “The road near Niloufer Hospital has been in a pathetic condition for the last 18 months. Hospital visitors, ambulance drivers, and commuters are struggling to navigate the road. What’s worse is that not even basic patchwork has been carried out in all this time.”

The road, which is also home to the well-known Niloufer Café & Bakery, has large potholes filled with stagnant, contaminated water. Residents say this has led to a severe mosquito menace in the area, further endangering public health.

Ahmed, who has been vocal about the issue on social media, posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Both Nampally Market and Niloufer Hospital Road at Red Hills are in a pathetic condition from months.” He also flagged the poor state of the road near Lakdikapul at Niloufer Café, urging authorities to take immediate action.

Despite repeated complaints, no visible action has been taken so far by civic authorities. The delay in addressing the issue has left residents frustrated and concerned about public safety, especially with the monsoon season worsening road and drainage conditions.

Citizens facing similar issues with waterlogging, and, sewage overflow can reach out to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) at 155313 or 040-23300114. Complaints can also be made through their official social media handle on X. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), responsible for road maintenance, can be contacted via @GHMCOnline.
