According to police, Mohammed Gaffar and Haseena Begum, residents of Zaheerabad, had admitted their baby boy to a hospital in their hometown on October 23. After three weeks of treatment, the doctors referred the baby to Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad for further treatment.

The doctors at the Niloufer hospital treated the infant and discharged him on Saturday. An unknown woman took the baby from the mother while she and her husband went to the counter to collect the discharge summary. When the parents returned, the woman, along with the baby, had disappeared. Despite searching the hospital premises, they were unable to locate the child. Subsequently, they approached the Nampally police, who registered a case under BNS 137 (kidnapping).
