NALSAR student dies after health complications on campus

HYDERABAD: A final-year BA LLB student of NALSAR University, Sahastranshu Pandey, died after suddenly developing health complications on the campus on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

Following the incident, the university suspended all classes from September 22 to October 1. Classes are expected to resume on October 6. Officials said an independent inquiry with external members would look into the sequence of events that led to the student’s death.

Sources said Pandey developed health issues during a get-together organised on campus late on Saturday night to coincide with a festival. He was first taken to a private hospital on Alwal main road, and later shifted to another private hospital at Suchitra junction as his condition worsened.

After discussions with his parents, the body was taken to Raipur. Shamirpet police said they were informed over the phone by a faculty member. “Since the student’s family did not raise any suspicion, the body was shifted to Raipur,” police said.

Notably, there was no official communication from the hospitals or the university to the police. No post-mortem examination was conducted to establish the cause of death.
