Villagers halt lorries dumping chemical waste near Chityal

Nalgonda: Tension prevailed at Pittampalli village in Chityal mandal of Nalgonda district after midnight when residents stopped several lorries allegedly belonging to private companies from dumping chemical waste in the village outskirts.

Villagers alleged that for the past few months, some companies had been discharging toxic chemical waste near the village, polluting the surroundings. They said several animals had recently died after consuming contaminated water and fodder.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and tried to pacify the locals. However, the situation turned tense as the villagers engaged in a heated argument with the police, demanding immediate action against the company management.

The protesters questioned why officials were not initiating action against the companies despite repeated complaints. Farmers and residents urged authorities to take strict measures against the chemical units for endangering public health and the environment.
