He highlighted that the controversial comments have damaged his family’s reputation, which has been established over decades through their contributions to the film industry and various social service efforts. “Our family has gained respect across the country and has received numerous national awards,” he said, noting that the minister’s statements damaged their honour.

He urged the Nampally Court to take criminal action against Minister Konda Surekha, arguing that her statements have damaged his family’s name and standing in society.

In his legal complaint, Nagarjuna highlighted his family’s respected status in the Indian film industry, highlighting their nearly 40-year legacy and over 90 films across various languages.

Nagarjuna expressed shock at seeing clips of Surekha’s comments circulated widely on social media. He argued that the baseless claims aimed to tarnish his family’s reputation for political gain. The allegations prompted numerous inquiries from friends and colleagues, leading Nagarjuna to issue a public statement condemning Surekha’s remarks.

Surekha’s allegations against the Akkineni family sparked outrage from the Telugu film industry. Several Tollywood bigwigs including megastar Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun, Nani, Mahesh Babu, Jr. NTR, Venkatesh Daggubati, Ram Charan, Prabhas, Sudheer Babu, Manchu Vishnu, Manchu Lakshmi, Varun Tej Konidela, Lavanya Konidela Tripathi, director Ram Gopal Varma, Akkineni Amala, Akhil Akkineni and Sushanth strongly condemned her comments.
