Nacharam residents struggle with decade-old drainage issue
Hyderabad: Residents of Raghavendra Nagar in Nacharam have raised concerns over a longstanding drainage issue that has persisted for more than ten years. Despite repeated complaints, they say no permanent solution has been provided by the authorities.
A resident, Daroor Jagadish, highlighted the issue on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Drainage water has been floating in our area for over 10 years. Despite repeated complaints, no permanent action has been taken. @GHMCOnline @CommissionrGHMC @TelanganaCMO. After making repeated calls to GHMC members, they won’t even come to clean it.”
Jagadish also said residents are forced to request local staff daily to clean the area. “Children’s health is at risk due to foul smell and pollution. Humbly requesting @GHMCOnline to please rebuild or permanently fix the drainage as advised by your own cleaners,” he added.
He further said, “Still no one has come to clean the drainage manhole. It’s a humble request. Please look into this issue and rebuild it with new pipelines.”
Locals are urging the authorities to address the issue, citing health risks and repeated inconveniences caused by the stagnant sewage.
