Mythri Movie Makers respond to tragic stampede at Pushpa 2 premiere in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Mythri Movie Makers, the production company behind the blockbuster Pushpa series, issued an official statement on December 5, 2024, regarding the tragic stampede incident that occurred during the premiere screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad on December 4, 2024.

Mythri Movie Makers expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident during the screening, stating that their thoughts are with the family and the child receiving medical treatment. The company assured that they are committed to offering all possible support during this difficult time.

The statement read, “We are extremely heartbroken by the tragic incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing medical treatment. We are committed to standing by them and extending all possible support during this difficult time. With deep sorrow, Mythri Movie Makers.”

As of now, actor Allu Arjun has not yet commented on the incident.

The stampede occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, when a large crowd of fans, eager to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun, surged toward the theater at RTC X Roads. The sudden influx of people overwhelmed security personnel, leading to a chaotic and dangerous situation. In the confusion, 39-year-old Revathi lost her life, and her young son sustained critical injuries.

Revathi, a resident of Dilsukhnagar, was caught in the crush and was rendered unconscious along with her son. Despite immediate efforts by police and bystanders to administer CPR, Revathi succumbed to her injuries. Her son was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many questioning the security arrangements for such high-profile events. Social media has been flooded with expressions of grief and anger, with some blaming both the organisers and authorities for the lack of crowd control measures. The overwhelming turnout, combined with the sudden appearance of the actor, appears to have contributed to the tragic outcome.
