Hyderabad: In a significant development, Hyderabad police have formed a Special investigation team(SIT) under the aegis of Central Crime station(CCS) to investigate antecedents of the accused involved in Muthyalamma Temple vandalism located at Kummarguda. The team will be probing Munawar Zama, who organized a month-long personality development workshop.

According to the Hyderabad police, A man entered Sri Muthyalamma Temple in Kummarguda at 4:30 AM on October 14, 2024, and damaged the main idol. Locals, alerted by noise, caught the suspect and confronted him. Angered by the provocative and mischievous act, some of the locals manhandled him. The suspect refused to reveal his identity or motive. Market Police took him to hospital, and registered a case. The incident occurred within the Market Police Station limits of Hyderabad commissionerate.

Investigation revealed the accused Salman Salim Thakur alias Salman came to Hyderabad early in the month of October 2024 to attend a month-long personality development workshop which was organized by English House Academy under the correspondence of Munawar Zama, Md. Kafeel Ahmed and others at Hotel Metropolis, Regimental Bazar, Secunderabad.

The probe revealed that Salman booked accommodation at the Metropolis Hotel in Secunderabad to attend a conference organized by Munawar Zama, scheduled from October 1st to 31st 2024.

Further investigation revealed disturbing details that Munawar Zama is conducting this conference to allegedly outrage religious feelings and also provoking hatred against the Hindu religion on the pretext of conducting the conference.

Conference was held without permissions

Police reports state, Munawar Zama conducted the above said conference approximately for 151 members and the accommodation for the said 151 members were provided at Metropolis Hotel around 49 rooms. Munawar Zama has not taken any permission to conduct the conference with such a big gathering.

“The Owner of the Hotel Abdul Rasheed Basheer Ahmed and manager Rehman of Metropolis hotel have also knowingly helped directly and indirectly to conduct such a conference by allocating rooms for one month. Munawar Zama has been found to be promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion and wantedly giving provocation to Muslim people with intent to cause riot,” said police.

It is pertinent to be noted that at the time of Salman’s arrest Hyderabad police said that their investigation revealed that the accused Salman is a B.E Computer Engineering graduate and is active on social media. He started watching Islamic religious preachers’ videos like fugitive Zakir Naik and others on Facebook and Youtube. He became self-radicalized and developed a radical bent mind and hatred towards the practices of other/Hindu religion like idolatry.
