Initially, the father claimed that someone might have taken the baby and placed her in the bucket, which led to the drowning. However, after a detailed investigation, police concluded that the infant’s death was not an accident but a result of intentional harm.

The couple, originally from Tamil Nadu, had moved to Hyderabad four years ago for work. Mani and her husband, Vijju, who suffers from kidney failure, had been facing significant financial struggles. Mani later confessed to killing the baby, explaining that she felt unable to care for both children and was concerned about the future.

A post-mortem confirmed that the baby died from excessive water intake. Mani was arrested after admitting to the crime. She has been presented before the court, and her statement has been recorded. The investigation is ongoing.
