Hyderabad: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of a mother and daughter on the outskirts of the city near Tukkuguda, Mahewaram, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. The victims were traveling on a scooter from Kalwakurthy towards Hyderabad when the incident occurred.

According to reports, as the mother and daughter approached Tukkuguda Road near the Outer Ring Road, a truck, reportedly driven recklessly, collided with their scooter. The impact caused both to fall onto the road, resulting in severe bleeding injuries. Tragically, the duo succumbed to their injuries and died at the scene.

The local police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the absconding truck driver responsible for the accident.

The Cyberabad Traffic Police had previously issued guidelines for heavy vehicles, which include restrictions on heavy and medium motor vehicles between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and again between 4:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Construction and demolition vehicles are prohibited from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Additionally, all heavy, goods, and slow-moving vehicles are banned from using flyovers at any time. Violators face fines and repeat offenders risk having their vehicles seized and handed over to the Regional Transport Authority (RTA).

Separate Fatalities in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy

In a separate incident, a student was killed and another seriously injured after their motorcycle collided with a divider on the Kokapet Service Road in Ranga Reddy on December 28, 2024. The deceased, identified as Satwik, was traveling with a companion when the motorcycle crashed into the divider. Initial reports suggest that overspeeding may have been the cause of the accident. Satwik died from the impact, while his companion remains in critical condition in the hospital.

This incident follows a similar accident just a day before, on December 27, 2024, when two individuals, Raghu Babu and Akansh, residents of Borabanda, were killed after their motorcycle skidded off the road and crashed into a divider in the Madhapur police station limits. The accident is believed to have been caused by excessive speed and possibly alcohol consumption. One victim died at the scene, while the other succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.

In another tragic incident on December 20, 2024, a 20-year-old student, Lokesh, lost his life in a head-on collision with a private travel bus in Punjagutta. Lokesh, a B.Tech student, was traveling with a companion on a scooter when the bus collided with them. Lokesh died at the scene, and his companion sustained severe injuries. Witnesses alerted the police, and officers from the Punjagutta police station responded immediately. A case has been filed following a complaint from Lokesh's family.
