Cricketer Mohammed Siraj appointed Deputy Superintendent of Police in Telangana
Hyderabad: Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj officially took on the role of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Telangana on Friday, October 11, 2024, after reporting to the state's Director General of Police (DGP). Siraj's appointment marks a significant milestone as he transitions from the cricket field to public service.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had previously announced that Siraj would be granted a prestigious Group-I government position, a promise fulfilled with his official induction today. The Chief Minister highlighted the government's dedication to nurturing talent in sports, expressing plans to develop future stars through various initiatives, including the establishment of a Sports University in Telangana.
In his remarks, Siraj expressed profound gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for the honour and acknowledged the support he has received from the government. M. Anil Kumar Yadav and Mohammed Faheemuddin Qureshi also praised the Chief Minister's commitment to sports, highlighting ongoing efforts to enhance sports facilities across the state.
Additionally, the Telangana government recently allocated 600 square yards of land in Jubilee Hills for residential purposes, following Siraj's request to the Hyderabad District Collector. This initiative comes after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced a house site for Siraj following his victory in the T20 World Cup. The Telangana State Assembly has also passed a bill granting Siraj Group-1 employment.
Born on March 13, 1994, in Hyderabad, Mohammed Siraj has made significant contributions to the Indian national cricket team and played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Hyderabad in domestic cricket. His recent accomplishments include pivotal roles in India’s victories in the 2023 Asia Cup and the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he was named Player of the Match in the final.
