Hyderabad: Telangana continues to receive widespread rainfall, with more showers forecast for the northern and eastern parts of the state. According to the Telangana Weatherman (@balaji25_t), a low-pressure system is driving persistent light to moderate rains, particularly across Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, and Bhadradri Kothagudem. These showers are expected to be intermittent, often described as steady and overcast.

Other districts, including Hyderabad, are likely to see passing showers throughout the day. Starting tomorrow, complete overcast conditions with more consistent rainfall are expected to spread across North, East, and Central Telangana. The weather update noted that rainfall currently observed in Bhupalapally and Mulugu will gradually reduce and is likely to extend towards Siddipet, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, and Khammam over the next two hours.

The Weatherman also reflected on the previous 24 hours, calling it a day of widespread rainfall across Telangana. As expected, the monsoon intensified across the state on June 29. Districts such as Asifabad, Mancherial, Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Karimnagar, Rajanna Sircilla, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Medak, Siddipet, Warangal, Hanmakonda, Mahabubabad, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Suryapet received significant rains throughout the day and into the night. Steady showers continued in parts of East, West, Central, and North Telangana.

Rainfall measurements recorded on June 29 highlighted Chandrugonda in Bhadradri Kothagudem as the wettest location with 62.5 mm, followed by Annapureddypally with 55.5 mm. Huzurabad in Karimnagar recorded 52.3 mm, Julurpad received 47.8 mm, and Madhira in Khammam saw 29.5 mm.

In view of these continuing rains, the Telangana Government, through the Office of the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, had earlier issued a public health advisory on May 29. The advisory, based on a warning from the Indian Meteorological Department, urged citizens to take precautions against mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, and chikungunya. People were advised to secure doors and windows with mosquito screens, use mosquito nets while sleeping, and apply repellents.

The advisory also highlighted the need to maintain household drains, cover septic tanks with mesh, and observe “Friday-Dry Day” every week to eliminate standing water around homes and reduce mosquito breeding. Authorities continue to monitor the rainfall pattern, and residents are advised to stay alert and follow updates from official sources.
