According to the reports, Vijayabhaskar left home on February 25 without his mobile phone and did not inform anyone of his whereabouts. When he did not return by evening, his family searched for him in various places but was unable to find him. His wife, Sujatha, filed a missing complaint at the Suraram police station.

During the investigation, police found a body floating in Lingam Pond in Suraram. The highly decomposed body was identified as Vijayabhaskar's, and an autopsy has been conducted. It was suspected that financial difficulties may have led to the professor's death. The case is under investigation.

In a separate incident, a 40-year-old TGSRTC bus conductor, B. Anjaiah, died after consuming a poisonous substance in Yacharam, Rangareddy district. On Thursday evening, Anjaiah ingested an unknown pesticide at his home in Gandlagudem under Yacharam mandal.
