From Hyderabad to Bangkok: Thailand welcomes home Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata
Hyderabad: Thailand welcomed home Opal Suchata Chuangsri, Miss World 2025, with a grand public celebration at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Saturday, June 14. The historic homecoming marked the return of the country’s first-ever Miss World titleholder.
Opal was greeted at the airport by Julia Morley, Chairwoman of the Miss World Organization (MWO), and Brian L. Marcar of TERO Entertainment. The event, held at the International Arrivals area, was organized by TERO Entertainment, TPNG, and the MWO, with support from both public and private sectors.
Following the airport welcome, a "Home Coming 72nd Miss World" event and a "Celebration Parade" along Sukhumvit Road were scheduled to continue the public festivities.
Opal’s victory at the 72nd Miss World Festival, held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana, marked a milestone for Thailand. She was crowned by Miss World 2024, Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic. The pageant featured 109 contestants, with Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia finishing as first runner-up, Maja Klajda of Poland placing third, and Aurélie Joachim of Martinique securing fourth.
The finale, held on May 31, 2025, began at 6:30 PM IST (1:00 PM GMT) and was co-hosted by Stephanie del Valle, Miss World 2016, and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar. Performances by Bollywood actors Jacqueline Fernandez and Ishaan Khatter added to the evening’s entertainment.
Sonu Sood received the Miss World Humanitarian Award and also served on the judging panel, which included Julia Morley; Sudha Reddy, philanthropist and host of the Beauty with a Purpose Gala; Dr. Caryna Turrell, Miss England 2014; actor Rana Daggubati; IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan; Manushi Chhillar, Miss World 2017; and Namrata Shirodkar, former actress and Miss India.
The event drew several high-profile attendees, including Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his wife, and actor Chiranjeevi and his wife. Earlier, on June 11, the Telangana State Government gave a traditional send-off to Opal and the Miss World delegation at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, showcasing local hospitality and culture.
