Miss World 2025 contestants to visit Pochampally on May 15
Hyderabad: Contestants from Group 2 of Miss World 2025 will visit the handloom village of Pochampally in Telangana on May 15, in a special cultural program aimed at highlighting India’s traditional textile heritage.
Pochampally, located in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, is internationally known for its ikat weaving techniques and was recognized by UNESCO as the "Best Tourism Village of the World." The visit will offer the contestants a firsthand experience of the intricate tie-and-dye process and the craftsmanship behind the iconic Telia Rumal, a double ikat textile once favored by the Nizams of Hyderabad.
The participants will meet local weavers and observe the weaving process that has defined the village’s identity for generations. The program also highlights Pochampally’s role in the Bhoodan Movement, led by Acharya Vinoba Bhave, further underlining its socio-cultural importance.
With the Miss World 2025 finale scheduled to be held in Hyderabad later this month, the visit to Pochampally is expected to draw international attention to Telangana’s handloom industry and living textile traditions.
