Miss World 2025 inauguration dazzles as Telangana showcases its heritage in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The inauguration ceremony of the 72nd Miss World Festival lit up the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, with a dazzling showcase of global glamour and Telangana’s vibrant cultural heritage.
The evening brought together over 110 contestants from around the world, each carrying their national flag during a striking cultural parade. Leading the procession was 19-year-old Miss India, Nandita Gupta, proudly draped in traditional attire and carrying the Indian tricolour.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Miss World Chairperson Julia Morley formally opened the event, calling it a celebration of peace, unity, and cultural exchange.
“It is very apt that India’s global city is hosting a truly global event,” said the Chief Minister, who welcomed the participants on behalf of the people of Telangana. “I hope they experience the beauty of our state, its heritage, food, music, and the extraordinary spirit of its people.”
The opening ceremony highlighted Telangana’s rich traditions through captivating performances, including Perini, Kommu Koya, Lambada, and Oggu Dolu dances, drawing enthusiastic applause from a packed stadium.
“This is a place where tradition meets innovation,” said Julia Morley. “We are honoured to begin the Miss World Festival here in Telangana. It shows the essence of what Miss World stands for, unity through diversity.”
Reigning Miss World Krystyna Pyszková reflected on her tenure and encouraged the new contestants to embrace their role as ambassadors of culture and purpose. “India has given us all a warm welcome. I hope each contestant uses this platform to voice the hopes of their communities.”
Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of the Youth Advancement, Tourism, and Culture Department, called the event a moment of pride for Telangana. “The message going out from here is one of peace and shared humanity.”
The Miss World 2025 itinerary includes cultural visits, heritage walks, and charitable events across Telangana. The festival continues through May 31, culminating in the crowning of the new Miss World.
