Mediasphere 2025: St. Francis college unleashes a wave of creativity at inter-collegiate fest
Hyderabad: St. Francis College for Women buzzed with creative energy as the Department of Mass Communication proudly hosted Mediasphere 2025, its annual inter-collegiate media festival, on Thursday. The event was a grand celebration of media, journalism, and creative expression.
The inaugural ceremony featured a mesmerizing performance by Sandilya Pisapati, the renowned violinist, singer, and music composer, known for his genre-defying compositions and performances. His presence added a unique artistic dimension to the event, inspiring students with his journey of blending tradition with modernity in the world of music. The valedictory ceremony was honoured by the presence of the team of the film, Tribanadhari Barbarik.
The inter-collegiate fest commenced with a graceful welcome dance, celebrating India’s cultural richness and setting the tone for a day filled with enthusiasm and creativity. The HOD of the Mass Communication Department, K. Ravi Kumar addressed the gathering, emphasizing on the importance of the fest in refining students' skills and how they gain insights through engaging competitions.
“This fest embraces the spirit of creativity, curiosity and collaboration. The magic of the media has ignited our imagination and illuminated our paths,” Ravi Kumar said.
The Principal, Dr. T. Uma Joseph, welcomed the staff, students and the participants, in her keynote address. She highlighted the role of media in shaping the society and its powerful influence on the people.
“Media is a medium of igniting change, and a catalyst of bringing us together, by offering a forum for discussions.” Building on this thought, she quoted Malcolm X who says "The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent. Media has the power to influence the minds, ideas, behaviors, and attitudes of the masses.”
She congratulated the entire department, extending her best wishes for an enriching and successful Mediasphere. She further highlighted that the inter-collegiate fest is more than just a celebration of media in all its forms—it serves as a remarkable platform for showcasing talent, fostering creativity, and facilitating meaningful interactions.
Expressing appreciation for the efforts of students and faculty in organizing Mediasphere 2025, Dr Uma Joseph reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to nurturing talent, innovation, and academic excellence in the field of media and communication, ensuring that St. Francis continues to inspire and empower young minds and nurture budding talents.
Delivering a keynote speech, the chief guest Sandilya Pisapati extended his best wishes to the students and announced the release of his new song - Anandamaaye from the upcoming film BrahmaAnandam, which is set to release today.
A range of flagship competitions challenged participants from various institutions to showcase their journalistic, creative, and literary skills. Competitions included Filmistan, Adventure, Alfaaz- Open Mic, Spin or Speak, Meme-o-Mania, Iconify 2.0, Naya Nazariya, Design Dobara, and a lot more, providing students with a platform to demonstrate their expertise across various media formats. The enthusiastic participation of students from multiple institutions reflected their deepening interest in the world of media and storytelling.
Valedictory was a fitting conclusion to Mediasphere 2025, marked by an enthusiastic Bollywood dance performance. It was followed by an engaging interaction between the students and the team of the film, Tribanadhari Barbarik, sharing their experiences from the film industry, they spoke about the importance of perseverance, creativity, and staying true to one’s passion. They encouraged students to embrace challenges, push creative boundaries, and pursue their dreams with dedication.
