McDonald's to set up global office in Hyderabad, creating 2,000 jobs
Hyderabad: McDonald's has announced plans to establish its Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad, a move expected to create 2,000 jobs in its first phase, with the potential for more in the future. Currently, the company operates 38 outlets in Telangana and intends to open 3 to 4 new outlets annually, including in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
The announcement came after a meeting between Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Chris Kempczinski, Chairman and CEO of McDonald’s Corporation. Despite competition from other major cities, Hyderabad was chosen due to its skilled workforce, strong infrastructure, and the state’s support for multinational businesses.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted Telangana's focus on skill development, particularly through initiatives like the Young India Skills University (YISU). He suggested that McDonald's consider hiring graduates from the university for its restaurant operations across India.
Additionally, the Chief Minister proposed that McDonald's source agricultural products locally, which could benefit the state's agricultural sector and support farmers.
Chris Kempczinski explained that Hyderabad was chosen over Bengaluru due to its high-quality human resources, better infrastructure, and overall quality of life.
The meeting was also attended by McDonald's Global Business President Sky Anderson, Chief Global Impact Officer John Banner, GBS Head Dishant Kaila, Telangana Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, Special Chief Secretary of the Industries Department Jayesh Ranjan, and other senior officials.
