Hyderabad: Major fire breaks out in Kokapet building, six techies sustain burn injuries
Hyderabad: At least six software employees were reportedly injured in a massive fire that broke out at GAR Towers in Kokapet near Narsingi on Saturday evening.
The injured persons were immediately rushed to Continental Hospitals where they are currently undergoing treatment for burns. According to available information, the health condition of some of them is said to be critical.
Doctors confirmed that it was a flash fire—an intense burst of flames without visible fire—causing burns to multiple individuals. The blast originated on the ground floor, where construction work was underway for a new restaurant.
Among the injured were the restaurant owner, two staff members, and four construction workers. While five suffered minor burns, one individual remains in critical condition. Police noted that the burns appeared only on exposed skin, with no damage to clothing. The impact shattered glass windows and damaged walls.
Soon after receiving the information, the fire department pressed fire tenders into service to carry out the dousing operations at the business complex. Initial reports suggested that the accident was caused by a gas leakage from a cylinder in a restaurant inside the building. The flames quickly spread to the nearby building. However, the fire brigade managed to douse the raging flames.
