Water woes in Manikonda: Quli Qutub Shahi Colony residents complain of irregular supply
Hyderabad: Residents of Quli Qutub Shahi Colony in Puppalaguda, Manikonda, have raised concerns over irregular water supply in the area. According to locals, water has been released only three or four times over the past two weeks, and even then, for durations shorter than the stipulated time.
Santosh Vatrapu, a resident, flagged the issue on X (formerly Twitter), tagging the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB). He stated that the local line man, identified as Shiva, has not been responding to repeated calls. “Only after raising a complaint with inspection officer Mohan does the line man respond, but the water supply issue still remains unresolved,” he said, urging the authorities to take appropriate action.
In response, the official HMWSSB handle acknowledged the complaint and requested further details. “Please provide the Consumer Account Number (CAN) and a contact number from the affected area. We’ll register a complaint, escalate the issue, and work towards a resolution,” the board replied.
In a separate complaint, resident Srinivas Sai Pondalur reported a foul odour emanating from Kaloji Rao Park, affecting nearby residents. He noted that many elderly people have stopped visiting the park due to the unpleasant smell. The concern was taken to former councillor Naveen, who responded, “Let us find the root cause and inform Manikonda municipal authorities.”
Residents dealing with similar water and sanitation issues can reach HMWSSB through customer service numbers 155313 or 040-23300114, or via its official X handle @HMWSSBOnline. Concerns related to public spaces and sanitation can also be reported to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) via @GHMCOnline.
HMWSSB, established in 1989, is responsible for water supply and sewerage services in Hyderabad. GHMC manages the civic infrastructure of the city, which has a population of approximately 7.9 million.
