Case booked after ganja and illegal liquor found at singer Mangli’s birthday in Chevella
Hyderabad: Chevella police have booked folk singer and television presenter Mangli following a late-night raid on her birthday party at Tripura Resort, Ranga Reddy. The event is under investigation for violations including drug use, lack of official permissions, and unauthorized use of sound equipment.
During the raid, police found a man named Damodar consuming ganja. Authorities are investigating further to determine the extent of drug use at the party.
Mangli has been charged with organizing the event without police permission and serving liquor without an excise license. The General Manager of Tripura Resort has also been booked for permitting the event without required approvals. Police seized DJ equipment used without a sound system license.
It was learnt that actress Divi and lyricist Kasarla Shyam were among the attendees. Police will issue notices to guests as part of the ongoing investigation.
Mangli, whose real name is Satyavathi Rathod, is known for singing Telugu folk songs and hosting television shows. She hails from the Banjara community in Gooty, Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, and holds a diploma in Carnatic music from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. Mangli began her career in 2013 and is known for her performances on Telugu news channels and her songs celebrating Telangana festivals. The police investigation is ongoing.
