Man stabs mother over property dispute in Tellapur; Police investigating
Hyderabad: A man reportedly killed his mother by stabbing her multiple times at Divino Villas in Tellapur Municipality, Sangareddy district.
The accused, 26-year-old Karthik Reddy, is said to have been struggling with alcohol addiction and had ongoing disputes with his parents regarding a share of the family property to meet his financial needs.
According to the police, during an argument early on Monday, Karthik allegedly stabbed his 52-year-old mother, Radhika, eight times. She was taken to a nearby hospital but later passed away while undergoing treatment.
The police have registered a case, and Karthik has been taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
In a separate incident, Medchal Police successfully solved the murder case of an unidentified woman found dead near the ORR culvert at Muneerabad Village, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, on January 27, 2025.
The deceased, a woman aged between 25 and 30, was discovered in a half-burnt state with severe head injuries. According to the police investigation, the body was found with a multi-colored saree that had been burned, and tattoos on her hands are "R. Srikanth" and "Rohith" in English on her right hand and "Narendra" in English on her left.
The police registered the case under Sections 103 and 238 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after receiving a complaint on January 24, 2025, around 4:30 p.m.
The investigation took a major turn when police circulated a lookout circular with details about the deceased’s tattoos and ornaments, which her relatives recognized.
They identified her as a woman from Bodhan, Nizamabad District, Telangana. She had been living in Kushaiguda, Hyderabad, working as a laborer, and occasionally visiting relatives in Medchal. According to family members, she had been involved in disputes with her family prior to her disappearance.
The accused, Shaik Emam (37), a stone cutter from Majeedpur, Shamirpet, was identified as the perpetrator. The investigation revealed that on January 23, 2025, Emam approached the deceased at the Medchal bus stop. He offered her Rs 500 for sex and lured her to a remote area under the ORR causeway at Muneerabad.
After the sexual encounter, the woman demanded an additional Rs 500, but Emam refused. This led to a violent altercation, during which Emam strangled the woman and struck her head with a stone, killing her. To destroy the evidence, he set her body on fire.
The police investigation, aided by analysis of the deceased's cell phone and CCTV footage, led to the identification and arrest of Shaik Emam in Majeedpur on January 27, 2025. A Redmi phone was recovered from him.
In a public advisory, the police urge anyone in danger or in need of assistance to dial 100, the universal emergency number. Missing persons should immediately report to the nearest police station.
