Man sentenced to one year for harassing minor girl in LB Nagar
Hyderabad: On February 19, 2025, the Special Fast Track Court in LB Nagar, Rangareddy district, sentenced a 20-year-old student to one year of rigorous imprisonment in a POCSO case.
The individual has been identified as Pallapu Mahindra, who is the accused in the case. Mahindra was found guilty of harassing a minor girl under the pretext of love.
Mahindra, a resident of Hastinapuram in the LB Nagar jurisdiction and originally from Gudlur village, Kandukur Mandal, Prakasam district, befriended the victim and behaved inappropriately with her.
He was convicted under Sections 354(D), 506 of the IPC, and Sections 11 and 12 of the POCSO Act. In addition to the sentence, the court imposed a fine of ₹2,000 on Mahindra and awarded a compensation of ₹50,000 to the victim. The prosecution was represented by Additional Public Prosecutors Sunitha and M. Raghu.
Earlier, in another case, the Metropolitan Criminal Court in Nampally sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping a minor girl. The court also imposed a ₹5,000 fine on the accused.
In that case, 54-year-old Boggula Sailu from Nizamabad was convicted after he raped and impregnated a 15-year-old girl in 2020.
The incident led to a case being registered at Bowenpally police station, with Sailu charged under Section 376(2)(n) of the IPC and Section 5(l) R/W 6 of the POCSO Act.
