Man who assaulted friend’s daughter sentenced to 10 years in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: On April 4, 2025, LB Nagar Court sentenced 43-year-old Syed Haji Ali, an auto driver from Shaheen Nagar, Balapur, Rangareddy District, to ten years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting his friend's daughter. The court also imposed a fine of ₹15,000 on the accused.

The case was registered under Pahadisharif Police Station after Ali, who had temporarily taken care of the child at his friend's request due to health reasons, misled the child and engaged in inappropriate behavior, leading to sexual assault. The incident was recorded under Case Cr. No. 476/2021.

Ali was convicted under sections 420, 363, and 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The victim was awarded a compensation of ₹5,00,000. Additional Public Prosecutors Sunitha and D. Raghu presented the case.
