Man bites off woman’s finger in Jawahar Nagar over chit money argument
Hyderabad: In a disturbing incident in Jawahar Nagar, Yousufguda, a man reportedly bit off a woman’s finger during an altercation over a financial dispute. The Madhura Nagar Police have registered a case and begun an investigation. According to the FIR filed by Shiva Kumar Sujitha, 27, a private employee and resident of Jawahar Nagar, the incident took place on May 17 around 5:30 p.m.
Sujitha stated that Mamatha, a former tenant, had referred another tenant, Supriya, to the penthouse. Mamatha, who was involved in a chit fund business, vacated the house on May 5 after staying for three years. Sujitha had reportedly paid Mamatha Rs. 25,000 and still owed her Rs. 30,000 in chit money, which she had promised to pay by May 20. Supriya also vacated the house, reportedly without paying Rs. 5,000 in rent. Mamatha had assured the landlord that the pending rent would be cleared.
On May 17, Mamatha called Sujitha, and the call was answered by Sujitha’s mother. During the conversation, Sujitha’s mother asked Mamatha to bring Supriya along to discuss about the pending chit money. Later, Mamatha and her husband, Hemanth, arrived at the house without Supriya. A verbal argument broke out and escalated into a physical confrontation. During the scuffle, Hemanth allegedly bit Sujitha’s mother’s right-hand index finger, severing it. She was taken to Medistar Hospital for treatment. Sujitha and her brother also sustained injuries.
The FIR noted that Hemanth was under the influence of alcohol during the incident. A case has been registered under Sections 118(2), 351(2), 292, and 79 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. An investigation is ongoing.
