Malnadu drug case: Cases filed against 9 Hyderabad pubs including Prism, Broadway, Walk Kora
Hyderabad: The Eagle Team has intensified its investigation into the Malnadu Restaurant drug case, uncovering a growing network of drug distribution linked to several well-known pubs in Hyderabad city. Following the arrest of Surya, the owner of Malnadu Restaurant, authorities have registered cases against nine pubs and issued notices to their owners. These pub owners have been summoned to appear before the investigating officials next week.
Surya, who was arrested on July 7 in Kompally, confessed to organizing drug parties in collaboration with three pub owners. The investigation revealed that several pubs were allegedly making special arrangements to facilitate drug use on their premises. The pubs under investigation include Prism Pub, Farm Pub, Bird Box Pub, Black 22 Pub, Walk Kora Pub, and Broadway Pub. Cases have already been registered against the owners of Walk Kora and Broadway Pub based on evidence gathered during the probe.
Among those named in the investigation are Raja Shekhar, owner of Quack Pub; Prudhvi Veeramachineni, Managing Director of Xora Pub in Jubilee Hills; Rohith Medishetty, Managing Director of Broadway Pub; and Raja Srikar, Managing Director of Quake Arena Pub in Kondapur. Surya told the police that these pub owners were directly involved in hosting drug-fueled parties in coordination with him. Several key individuals, including Rohith, Pavan, Sreedeep, Yashwanth, and Tanuj, have also been identified as being linked to drug consumption and transactions at various pub events.
The investigation began when Inspector P. Ramesh Reddy of the Cyberabad Narcotic Police Station received credible information on July 7 that Surya would be transporting narcotics to his restaurant in Kompally. A team, under the direction of Dy.SP Harishchandra Reddy, set up surveillance near the restaurant. At around 7:15 PM, Surya’s vehicle, a Tata Scorpio, was intercepted. During questioning, Surya initially denied carrying drugs but later admitted to possessing OG Weed and Ecstasy pills, which were recovered from the car's dashboard. A further search led to the discovery of a hidden parcel containing cocaine concealed in a pair of women’s sandals.
In his confession, Surya admitted that he had been trafficking drugs for several years and was a regular consumer of cocaine along with his friends at various pubs in Hyderabad. He disclosed that he sourced drugs from Nigerian nationals based in Delhi and Bangalore. On June 18, Surya transferred ₹1.39 lakh to a Nigerian contact named Nick in exchange for 20 grams of cocaine, two grams of MDMA, and six Ecstasy pills. Another payment of ₹80,000 was made on July 4 for a fresh supply of cocaine. The drugs were reportedly delivered through a local courier service.
Police recovered 3.2 grams of OG Weed, 1.6 grams of Ecstasy, and 10 grams of cocaine from Surya’s possession. His mobile phone, the Tata Scorpio vehicle, and the modified sandals used to conceal the drugs were also seized. All seized materials have been sealed and sent for forensic analysis. Surya has been booked under multiple sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During interrogation, Surya also revealed the names of other individuals involved in the network. These include Harsha of Himayat Nagar and Sandeep Juvvadi from Karimnagar, both of whom are alleged suppliers. Pallepaka Mohan of Khajaguda and several Nigerian nationals, Jerry from Bangalore, Nick from Delhi, and others identified as Dezmond, Stanley, and Prince have also been named as part of the supply chain.
End users linked to the operation include Vikram Reddy from Bheemavaram, Rahul from Mahendra Hills, Navdeep Reddy from Bollarum, Sandeep Kurapati from Manikonda, Venkat from Vijayawada, Jaswanth from Puppalguda, and Sunil from Bangalore. Among those under investigation is Dr. Prasanna, a cardiovascular surgeon from Gachibowli, who is reportedly a regular consumer.
The case has now been handed over to Inspector B. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy for further investigation. Police teams are working to trace and apprehend the absconding individuals involved in the drug network. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend others involved in the operation.
