Mallapally residents request fogging to combat rising mosquito bites
Hyderabad: With continuous heavy rainfall, water stagnation in several areas has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, leading to concerns among residents in Hyderabad about the rise in mosquito bites.
The issue was highlighted by Shaik Habeeb (@Shaikhabeeb74) on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), where he urged authorities to take immediate action for fogging near the ITI Mallapally area.
Shaik Habeeb’s post read, “Dear GHMC, @GhmcMayoroffice @GHMCOnline @ZC_Khairatabad @arifrizwanAIMIM, There are so many mosquitoes in our area. Required mosquito fogging r in our area A Battery Lane @Md_MajidHussain.”
In response, local corporator Arif Rizwan (AIMIM) suggested, “Please raise your complaint on the MyGHMC app and share the token number.” However, Habeeb replied that the app was not functioning properly, raising further concerns.
The official GHMC handle responded, apologizing for the inconvenience, and assured that the Entomology team was informed and that fogging would be carried out soon. The Deputy Commissioner of the Mehdipatnam Circle, GHMC, also addressed the issue, directing further action for fogging at the mentioned location.
Meanwhile, residents continue to await resolution, with some expressing frustration over the recurring mosquito problem, especially during the monsoon season. One user remarked, “Mosquito issues are common during the rainy days. It’s better to use mosquito nets as GHMC can’t address all the stagnant water bodies around Hyderabad.” The authorities have yet to confirm when fogging operations will begin in the area.
