Hyderabad: Bharat Rastra Samithi(BRS) MLC and Telangana Jagruthi President K. Kavitha has requested the Telangana Legislative Council Chairman to refer Congress MLC Teenmar Mallanna's alleged derogatory comments to the Ethics Committee, citing damage to her reputation and dignity.  Meanwhile Teenmaar Mallana alleged an attempt to murder and lodged a complaint with Medipally police.

Responding to the attack, MLC Teenmar Mallanna said, "They snatched the gun from our gunman and attacked our staff. Many people, including me, were injured. Kalvakuntla Kavitha and her family attempted to murder us. We will not remain silent anymore. The time has come to decide whether it is you or me."

He further added that "No assassination attempts can stop the BC movement. If you think that Mallanna is afraid of such attacks, it is your illusion. The government should respond to this incident. We have already filed a complaint regarding this attack. We have faith in the police and the system that they will ensure justice is done.”

Kavitha complains to Legislative Council

In her letter to Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Kavitha expressed shock at Mallanna's comments. During a public meeting in Zaheerabad, he reportedly made inappropriate remarks about her support for 42% BC reservations. She highlighted her two-year-long agitation for proportional representation for Backward Classes in local bodies, education, and jobs.

Kavitha noted that the state government, responding to Telangana Jagruti's movements, passed bills granting 42% BC reservations in local bodies and other sectors. She emphasized her efforts to pressure the central government and Congress leadership to implement these quotas. Following the cabinet's approval, they held celebrations, during which Mallanna allegedly made disparaging remarks about her.

Invoking Rule 262-C (Sub-Rule 1), Kavitha urged the Chairman to refer the matter to the Ethics Committee. In her representation, she alleged that such comments reflect poorly on Mallanna's attitude toward women in public life.

It is to be noted that Telangana Jagruthi members attacked the Q News office and vandalized it in Boduppal on Sunday. This followed Congress MLC Teenmar Mallanna's controversial comments about BRS MLC K. Kavitha. The incident escalated into vandalism and gunfire, leaving one person injured.
