Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy stages sit-in at Machabollaram dumping yard
Hyderabad: Malkajgiri BRS MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy continued his protest for a second day, sitting amidst garbage in Machabollaram, Medchal-Malkajgiri district. The MLA held a sit-in protest at the dumping yard near the crematorium in the Machabollaram Division, demanding the removal of the illegal dumping site and an end to unauthorized constructions.
The protest, which saw participation from residents of nearly forty localities, was marked by the slogan, "Stop Illegal Dumping in Hindu Graveyard."
Addressing the gathering, Malkajgiri BRS MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy criticized the authorities for neglecting public health, disregarding Hindu traditions, and ignoring people's concerns. He highlighted that the garbage piles in the area have worsened pollution and made life difficult for local residents.
"The health of children and the elderly is at risk, groundwater is becoming polluted, and the environment has turned toxic," Marri Rajasekhar Reddy said. "Authorities should not serve corporate interests at the expense of public welfare. We will continue this protest daily until the issue is resolved. If necessary, we will lay siege to the Alwal Municipality office and take the matter to the Chief Minister, demanding action against corrupt officials."
The MLA had previously started this protest on Sunday against the dumping site. He pointed out that the land, originally donated for a cemetery, had been illegally converted into a dumping yard, exacerbating health and environmental problems in the area. Residents of the area remained in protest through the night.
