Malakpet: Man gets released from Chanchalguda jail with forged bail order

Hyderabad: A man, who was lodged at Chanchalguda jail, secured bail in a cheating case by submitting fake documents.

The accused identified as Mir Shujath Ali was arrested by the Narsingi police in a cheating case in November and remanded to Chanchalguda prison.

In an attempt to secure bail, Mir submitted forged bail documents to the jail authorities and was released.

The incident occurred last week but came to light today when the Narsingi police filed a Prisoner Transit (PT) warrant in another case. The concerned court accepted the request and ordered the police to take custody of Mir from Chanchalguda prison.

When the police team reached the prison to take him into their custody, they were informed that the person was released on bail.

The police team approached the court for re-verification and found that the court did not grant bail to him. Subsequently, jail authorities took up the verification of the submitted documents and found that the inmate had tampered with the old bail document and submitted it as his own bail order.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Mir was helped by an undertrial prisoner Ramu with the forged bail order documents. The jail authorities have filed a complaint with the Dabeerpura police. A case of forgery was registered and efforts are on to trace and nab Mir Shujath Ali. Meanwhile, the authorities have initiated an inquiry into the lapses that occurred in the prisoner’s release.
