Major Fire Incident at Gulzar Houz Claims Eight Lives, Rescue Efforts Continue

In a tragic incident early Sunday morning, a massive fire broke out in a three-storeyed building located at Gulzar Houz near Charminar, leading to the death of eight individuals and injuring several others. The blaze, which started in the early hours, engulfed the structure, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and triggering panic among residents.

According to Osmania General Hospital’s Resident Medical Officer, Dr. Vijay Kumar Yadav, six people were confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital. One individual was admitted for treatment, while others were shifted to various private hospitals in the vicinity. The condition of some of the injured is reported to be critical.

Officials from the fire department reported that at least 15 people sustained serious injuries, with another 10 suffering from minor burns or injuries due to smoke inhalation. Rescue teams are still engaged in firefighting and evacuation operations, as thick smoke continues to hinder visibility and movement within the building.

Preliminary reports suggest that the building housed commercial establishments on the ground floor, while the upper three floors served as residential units. Officials from the Disaster Response Force (DRF) stated that many residents were trapped on the upper floors due to the rapid spread of the fire and thick smoke. Two DRF teams, in coordination with four fire tenders, were deployed immediately to manage the situation.

Senior officials including GHMC Zonal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi and South Zone DCP Sneha Mehra are on-site, overseeing the rescue and relief operations. Police personnel, GHMC workers, and DRF teams are jointly working to bring the situation under control and assist those affected.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation has been initiated. Meanwhile, authorities have urged residents in the surrounding area to stay cautious and report any symptoms of smoke inhalation. The city has been left shaken by the tragic event, with emergency services continuing their efforts to ensure the safety and recovery of survivors.
