Major fire breaks out at convention hall in Shamshabad
Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at the EKAM Convention Hall, under construction near Thondupally in Shamshabad Municipality, Rangareddy district, on the morning of Thursday, March 20, 2025. The blaze caused heavy smoke that was visible from a distance, alarming nearby residents. Firefighting teams were immediately dispatched to the scene to control the flames.
The fire, which started around 9:30 a.m., spread rapidly due to the presence of combustible materials on the premises. Local police also arrived to assist in the response.
According to Mahesh Yadav, the convention hall owner, the fire was triggered by a short circuit during electrical work. A small fire occurred while welding, which eventually spread throughout the building. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control using two fire engines. The estimated damage is reported to be around seven crores.
Fire breaks out in Toyota Qualis on PVNR Expressway
In another incident, a car fire occurred on Wednesday night, March 19, 2025, on Rajendranagar Road. A Toyota Qualis caught fire near Pillar number 151 of the PVNR Expressway while the vehicle was in motion. The driver managed to exit the car before the fire spread, and the vehicle was completely gutted. Firefighters responded quickly to extinguish the flames. Officials suspect the fire was caused by a short circuit.
Earlier this week, a fire broke out in the kitchen of Pallavi Restaurant at Vivekanand Colony, Kukatpally, on the night of Thursday, March 14, 2025. The fire occurred around midnight, but no casualties were reported, as the restaurant was mostly empty at the time.
Authorities suspect the fire was caused by an LPG leakage. The restaurant staff noticed smoke and flames and quickly alerted the fire department, preventing further damage. The LPG cylinders were moved to a safe location to avoid explosions.
On March 4, 2025, a fire broke out at a mechanic workshop in Nampally, believed to have been caused by a short circuit. The fire spread quickly due to the presence of fuel bottles in the workshop. Firefighters responded promptly and contained the blaze, preventing a larger disaster.
Tragic Fire in Manikonda Claims Three Lives
On February 28, 2025, a tragic fire in the Puppalaguda area of Manikonda claimed the lives of three people. The fire, caused by a short circuit, started in the parking area of a two-story building and quickly spread to the interior. The victims, Jameela Khatun (65), Shahana Khatun (30), and Shiraj Khatoon (4), were trapped in a room on the first floor and succumbed to smoke inhalation.
Fire and rescue teams arrived, but it was too late to save the victims. Regional Fire Officer Jayaprakash confirmed that smoke inhalation was the cause of death and highlighted the dangers of carbon monoxide. He advised the public to evacuate buildings immediately during a fire and to avoid using elevators.
