The Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police of Thane district, Maharashtra, conducted a raid in the Cherlapally Industrial Development Area (IDC), resulting in the seizure of a staggering 32,000 litres of raw materials used to produce narcotics, with an estimated value of Rs 12,000 crores.

The operation began with a relatively modest seizure of 200 grams of drugs worth Rs 25 lakhs by the Thane police. However, meticulous investigation and intelligence work snowballed into a massive bust, exposing a highly sophisticated syndicate that operated with alarming precision. "The gang used advanced equipment and chemicals to manufacture MD drugs (Methylenedioxy Methamphetamine) on an industrial scale, supplying narcotics across India and abroad," said the Maharashtra police.

So far, 13 accused, including key manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors, have been arrested.  Investigation by the Maharashtra police revealed that the masterminds had established a vast and complex network, making it exceptionally challenging for authorities to trace the operation back to its source. The factory was cleverly disguised as a legitimate chemical unit within the industrial estate.

The raid is still ongoing as authorities continue to uncover the full extent of the network and identify all individuals involved.
