Hyderabad: Maddipadu police have issued notices to Director Ram Gopal Varma at his Hyderabad office on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in connection with a case filed over his alleged derogatory comments targeting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Nara Lokesh.
The case, registered on November 12, 2024, follows a complaint lodged by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Ramalingam, who alleges that Ram Gopal Varma posted morphed images on the platform X (formerly Twitter) to defame the political leaders.
The complaint further points to comments made by RGV during promotional activities for his film Vyuham, which were deemed derogatory towards the political figures.
Maddipadu police have filed the case under Sections 336(4) and 353(2) of the BNS Act, as well as Section 67 of the IT Act, which deals with the dissemination of objectionable content online.
