Madannapet police arrest maternal uncle in Seven-year-old girl's murder

Hyderabad: Madannapet police unraveled the tragic case of the seven-year-old girl found lifeless in an overhead water tank, arresting her maternal uncle on Friday. The breakthrough came just two days after the child vanished from her grandparents' home in Chawni Nadi Ali Baig, within the Madannapet police station limits of Hyderabad commissionerate.

The seven-year-old was reported missing on Tuesday. During the search, police found her body in a water tank at her grandparents' residence, with her hands and legs bound.

Details of the Crime

According to Madannapet police, the maternal uncle tied the girl's limbs and threw her into the tank after she made noise at home. The investigation also found that he and his wife suffocated her by placing plaster over her mouth.

Police are investigating whether the murder is linked to a long-standing property dispute involving the girl's mother and other relatives. The inquiry is ongoing to establish all circumstances of the case.

Political Response

Jaffar Hussain Meraj, MLA of Yakutpura, visited the police station with AIMIM representatives after the incident. The party reported meeting with the ACP and CI of Madannapet to request a thorough investigation, following instructions from AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi and Floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.

Upon learning of the incident, Amjed Ullah Khan, MBT Spokesman, visited the scene and inquired about the case. He later met the victim's family at Madannapet Police Station and requested prompt action and arrests from Assistant Commissioner S Venkat Reddy and Inspector P Anjaneyulu.

Madannapet police continue to investigate the case. The uncle remains in custody as the inquiry proceeds.
