Loyola Academy hosts Lenzcape 2025 photography competition, exhibition
HYDERABAD: The Department of B.A. Mass Communication, Loyola Academy, organised its annual photography festival “Lenzcape – 2025” on September 18. The event carried the theme “Whispers of Time” with the sub-theme “Reflections of Rain,” blending creativity, critical reflection and artistic expression.
Event highlighted ‘Whispers of Time’ and ‘Reflections of Rain’ themes
The programme was inaugurated by Principal Rev. Fr. Dr. N B Babu, SJ, in the presence of Vice Principal Rev. Fr. B Peter, SJ, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Rama, and Dean of Arts and Humanities Dr. Swaralipi Nandi. Faculty members said the initiative provided young photographers and media students with a platform to showcase their talent.
Guest sessions on photography and culture
Two guest sessions were conducted during the event. International photographer and assistant professor Bandi V Ramana presented a photo documentary, “Forest Flowers: A Photo Documentary on Araku Tribes,” exploring the bond between culture, nature and visual storytelling.
Photographer and designer Haripriya Vangaru delivered a session titled “Embodied Experiences,” urging students to see photography as a tool for self-expression and narrative building.
Cultural play on social media and youth
Final-year BA Mass Communication students staged a play, “Bond by an Algorithm,” which examined the impact of social media on young people.
The event concluded with a valedictory session where winners of the photography competition were felicitated by the department.
Lenzcape – 2025 was well received by students, faculty and participants, marking it as a significant academic and cultural celebration that underlined the role of visual media in contemporary society.
