Tomato-laden lorry overturns in Rajendranagar, causes traffic snarl
Hyderabad: A lorry carrying tomatoes overturned on Thursday morning, July 17, 2025, near PV Express Highway Pillar No. 216 in Rajendranagar, Ranga Reddy district, leading to a major traffic jam.
The vehicle, transporting tomatoes from Shamshabad to the Gudimalkapur market, lost control due to overspeeding, according to reports. The driver and cleaner escaped with minor injuries. Boxes of tomatoes spilled across the road, drawing locals who rushed to collect them in bags.
Traffic police used a crane to move the overturned vehicle and cleared the spilled produce to one side of the road. Traffic flow was restored after the operation.
Earlier Incidents
On May 2, 2025, a vehicle overturned near the Hydernagar U-turn close to JNTU Metro Station, under the jurisdiction of KPHB Traffic Police. The Ashok Leyland truck blocked the road, causing a significant traffic jam. A JCB was used to remove the vehicle, and traffic was later regulated.
On December 16, 2024, a diesel tanker overturned near Mettuguda Railway Station in Secunderabad, spilling thousands of litres of fuel. Emergency services responded promptly and warned motorists to avoid the area due to hazardous conditions.
In a previous incident, an oil spill on the Kushaiguda-Nagaram road led to slippery conditions. About 25 two-wheeler riders skidded, with several sustaining minor injuries. The spill occurred when a tanker traveling from ECIL to Keesara leaked fuel onto the road.
