Leopards are occasionally seen in the area due to its proximity to the reserve forest in Shamshabad. Nearby villagers have been advised to remain vigilant.

A team of forest officials is expected to visit the campus to search for pug marks and confirm the presence of the leopard.

Leopard sightings in the area are not uncommon, as the animals are known to roam between the Shamshabad Gangan Pahad reserve forest and surrounding villages, including Himayatsagar, Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, and Moinabad.

In a separate incident on October 19, 2024, a video showing a leopard near the Miyapur Metro station went viral, causing alarm among locals. However, forest officials later confirmed that the animal in the video was a wild cat, not a leopard. DNA tests on the animal's droppings confirmed this finding.

Forest department officials had initially urged caution but reassured residents after the clarification. Personnel from the Chilkur range were deployed to monitor the situation and ensure public safety.
