Three arrested in Kukatpally for breaking into businessman's home
Hyderabad: The Kukatpally Police, along with CCS Balanagar Zone, have arrested three individuals involved in a housebreaking case and recovered stolen goods worth around ₹50 lakhs. The breakthrough came after the police analyzed over 200 CCTV cameras along the suspects' escape route.
The complainant, Kamani Madhusudhan Rao, a 57-year-old businessman from Jayanagar, Kukatpally, lodged a complaint after discovering that his house had been broken. According to complainant Madhusudhan Rao, he had locked his house at 5:00 p.m. on November 28, 2024, and left for Miyapur to visit his daughter, who had recently given birth. On the morning of November 29, 2024, Madhusudhan Rao’s driver informed him that the apartment watchman had noticed the door to the house was unlocked. Upon returning, the complainant found the lock broken and the bedroom ransacked.
The arrested suspects were identified as Sampangi Laxman (44), a car driver from Kukatpally, originally from Vuyyuru village in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh; Gummadi Naga Shankar (23), a marketing salesman from Kukatpally, also from Gudlavalleru village, Krishna district; and Gummadi Murali (54), a driver from Kukatpally, originally from Gudlavalleru village, Krishna district.
Sampangi Laxman and Gummadi Murali, both employed as drivers at the Prakash Engineering Office in Vivekananda Nagar Colony, Kukatpally, were well-acquainted with the complainant’s business partners. The accused learned that Madhusudhan Rao’s family was away, staying with his daughter in Miyapur, and they conspired to break into his residence. Naga Shankar, Murali’s son, was also involved in the crime.
On the night of November 28-29, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Laxman and Murali, wearing masks and gloves, arrived at Madhusudhan Rao’s locked house carrying tools, including an iron rod to break the lock. After confirming there were no witnesses around, they forced open the central lock of the main door and entered the house. The accused then proceeded to the bedroom, where they were forced to open an almirah and stole gold jewelry worth 80 tolas, including necklaces, bangles, and rings, as well as ₹2 lahks in cash. The accused fled the scene, leaving the house ransacked.
The police successfully recovered the stolen items, which included gold jewelry weighing 75.4 tolas, comprising 27 pieces such as diamond necklaces, gold bangles, designer earrings, and rings. Additionally, the recovery included pearl items weighing 175 grams, including a pink pearls necklace set, a South Sea pearls set, and a pearl necklace with the bracelet. Silver items weighing 157 grams, such as a green stone locket, a gold-coated silver locket, and a silver necklace with accessories, were also recovered, along with three smartphones and a Yamaha FZ vehicle.
The case was solved under the guidance of Balanagar DCP K. Suresh Kumar, DCP Crimes K. Narsimha, Kukatpally ACP Srinivasa Rao, and CCS ACP K. Kalinga Rao. The investigation team, including Kukatpally Inspector K. Muthu, DI B. Venkatesham, CCS Balanagar Inspector CH Raju, and SIs S. Satheesh Reddy, Girish, and CCS SI Pochaiah, worked diligently to detect the case.
