Minor boy arrested for Murder of Kukatpally girl during botched bat theft
Hyderabad: The Kukatpally police have cracked the murder case of a minor girl, revealing a meticulously planned but horrifyingly violent theft orchestrated by a minor boy who was known to the family on Friday. The motive, police say, was a coveted cricket bat.
Going further into details, a 10-year-old girl was found brutally stabbed to death at her residence in Sangeet Nagar under Kukatpally police limits of Cyberabad commissionerate on Tuesday. The victim, a sixth-class student, was home alone due to school holidays when the incident occurred.
The accused, identified as a friend of the victim’s younger brother. The investigation revealed that the boy harbored a deep grudge because the brother owned an MRF cricket bat he desperately wanted. After his request for the bat was refused, he allegedly concocted an elaborate plan to steal it.
According to the police, the plan, which was found written in detail on a piece of paper, was not just a simple theft. Minor boy had devised a chilling backup plan that included how to commit the theft, how to escape, and crucially, what to do if he was stopped. His solution, as written and executed, was to kill anyone who got in his way.
On the day of the crime, the boy allegedly entered the house from an adjacent building while the family was away, targeting what he believed was the brother's room. During the theft, he also broke into a Hundi (donation box) kept in the house and stole approximately Rs. 80,000.
It was at this moment that the victim, minor girl, unexpectedly arrived from the bedroom and discovered him. True to his premeditated plan, the boy did not flee. Instead, he attacked her, cutting her throat and stabbing her multiple times in a frenzied assault to eliminate the witness.
Police officials stated that the boy’s detailed note, written in English, was recovered. The note outlined the entire modus operandi, from entry to contingency plans for confrontation. The accused has been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing as authorities examine the details of the plan and the stolen items.
It is pertinent to note that the police received a Dial 100 alert about a murder and immediately rushed to the spot. The girl's father, who returned home for lunch around 12:50 PM on Tuesday, discovered her lying in a pool of blood in the bedroom with stab injuries. The parents had left for work around 9 AM, leaving the child alone.
Earlier, DCP Balanagar K Suresh Kumar said, "The father alerted neighbours, who then informed the police. The parents didn’t suspect anyone yet, however, the investigation is going on. Forensic teams, including the dog squad and clues team, have inspected the crime scene to gather evidence."
