KTR alleges corruption as ED mentions CM Revanth Reddy in National Herald Chargesheet
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday, May 23, 2025, launched a sharp attack on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy after his name appeared in the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) chargesheet in the National Herald case.
“Telangana has become an ATM for Scamgress, and now it’s been corroborated by central agencies,” KTR said, using a derogatory term for the Congress party. He further called Revanth Reddy “Telangana’s Bag Man,” accusing him of attempting to divert public attention from alleged corrupt activities.
“The million-dollar question is whether the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government will act this time or pardon Revanth Reddy, as it did in the Amrut scam, RR tax, and civil supplies scam,” KTR added.
The ED filed the chargesheet on April 9, 2025, in a Delhi court. While Revanth Reddy is named in the document, he is not listed as an accused. The focus of the chargesheet is on Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, who have been named as Accused No. 1 and No. 2 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The ED alleges that Congress leaders, including the late Ahmed Patel, Pawan Bansal, and Revanth Reddy, influenced individuals to donate to Associated Journals Limited (AJL) and Young Indian (YI) between 2019 and 2022. According to the agency, some of these contributions were made under political pressure and tied to expectations of political favors, and therefore do not qualify as lawful donations. The case, which stems from a complaint by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, alleges financial irregularities involving Congress leaders and related entities.
