KTR slams Revanth Reddy for focusing on Miss World while pediatric care at Fever Hospital suffers
Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has criticised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of neglecting children's healthcare in favour of organizing the Miss World 2025 contest.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), KTR wrote, “Chief Minister who is too busy running after the Miss World contest has no time to think of children’s health. How long does it take for the Telangana government to appoint paediatricians at Fever Hospital? Why should children and parents suffer for over a year?”
He further added, “With the monsoon almost setting in, the seasonal health issues will only increase. Can you kindly look into this and take it up as a priority @TelanganaCS Garu #CongressFailedTelangana.”

KTR’s remarks followed a news report highlighting the prolonged closure of the Pediatrics Department at Fever Hospital in Nallakunta (Koranti Davakhana), one of the most visited public hospitals in Hyderabad.
According to the report, originally published by Velugu Newspaper, Fever Hospital handles a large number of seasonal and infectious disease cases, including dengue, malaria, typhoid, flu, and diarrhea. The hospital sees around 500 out-patient registrations daily, peaking at over 1,000 during seasonal outbreaks.
However, the Pediatrics Department has remained non-functional for over a year after two pediatricians were transferred. No replacements have been posted, leading to children between the ages of 5 and 10 being referred to Niloufer Hospital, increasing pressure on that facility and causing hardship to families.
Critics have questioned why the administration did not assign doctors through deputation or outsourcing instead of shutting the department entirely. All professor-level posts in the department remain vacant.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Superintendent of Fever Hospital, confirmed the issue. “We had to close the Pediatrics Department only because there were no pediatric doctors available. Recently, a new pediatrician has joined Fever Hospital. We will very soon restart the Pediatrics Department, and children will receive regular care again,” he said.
