Hyderabad:  K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), on October 22, 2024, has issued a legal notice to Union Minister and BJP MP Bandi Sanjay, alleging that Sanjay made baseless and defamatory comments about him. KTR has threatened to file a defamation suit unless Sanjay offers an unconditional apology within a week.

In the notice, KTR asserts that Bandi Sanjay made false accusations during a media interaction on October 19, claiming that KTR used drugs and was involved in phone tapping during the BRS's tenure in power. KTR expressed strong disapproval of these remarks, stating that they were derogatory and aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

Furthermore, KTR noted that his father, K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), was also mentioned in the alleged phone-tapping case. The notice described Sanjay’s comments as not only defamatory but also made with the intention to undermine KTR’s image and political standing.

KTR challenged Sanjay to substantiate his claims regarding drug use and phone tapping, highlighting that such serious allegations require evidence. He warned of legal repercussions for any future remarks intended to damage his reputation without proof.

KTR highlighted that Sanjay’s comments have been widely disseminated through various media channels, leading to public misunderstanding and potentially damaging his reputation. He dismissed the allegations as deliberate fabrications to advance Sanjay’s political agenda.

“People may be inclined to believe the allegations made by someone like Bandi Sanjay, who holds a responsible position as a Union Minister,” KTR stated. He criticised Sanjay for previously making similar allegations and suggested that these attempts to defame him originated from an inability to confront him politically.

In his notice, KTR demanded that Sanjay's remarks be immediately retracted and that a public apology be issued for false propaganda. He warned that failure to comply within the specified timeframe would result in a defamation suit and potential criminal proceedings.
