KTR, Harish Rao put under house arrest, Kaushik Reddy granted bail
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao, MLA T Harish Rao and several other party leaders were placed under house arrest in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning.
A large posse of policemen were seen standing guard against the residence of BRS party leaders. The party leaders were informed that they were under house arrest. It is reported that the police were anticipating trouble following the arrest of Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy by the Karimnagar police on Monday evening. He was arrested from outside a Telugu news channelโs office in Jubilee Hills checkpost area. Huzurabad MLA was arrested in connection with a case registered against him for misbehaving with Jagtial MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar.
The Hyderabad police action comes after the BRS leaders and activists staged a sit-in outside the Karimnagar police station on Monday night and demanded the police to disclose where Kaushik Reddy was taken by the police.
The BRS MLA was arrested in Jubilee Hills at around 7.30 pm by the police and he was not shifted to the Karimnagar police station even after 11 pm. The worried party workers started gathering in front of the police station and demanded party MLAโs whereabouts. When the police refused to share details, they resorted to sloganeering against the Congress-led Telangana government. The police took BRS town president Challa Harishankar, Raghuveer Singh and a few others into custody as they attempted to stage a dharna outside the police station.
Earlier, Kaushik Reddy participated in a review meeting held at the Karimnagar collectorate held to review the development works in the united Karimnagar district on Sunday. The review meeting witnessed a heated exchange between BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and Jagtial MLA Dr. Sanjay Kumar over the latterโs political affiliation as he defected from the BRS to the Congress last year.
